hey guys Im looking for a tone out of my guitarHey guys or maby gals. Im lookin for a tone out of my guitar. I have a song that the kids chior is doin and it is a "black chior song" lookin maybe for like a BB King sound. Also Im lookin for a nice bluesie sound to use that has a kind of clean but when you get agressive it has some edge to it maybe like a tube screamer maybe. I have a variax that models about 25 guitars so I have a telecaster, strat, les paul, and a few others. I am playin through a POD xtlive so I have access to alot of efects. Any help would be appriciated. I have a few sounds that I like but haven't been sucessful in editing them to bring them to it. Lack of my ear I guess.

Not that I'm a gurue, far from it I would say a great place to start would be with the les paul the hbs will give you an edge at finding that bb king sound

Getting BB's sound...If you have a variax, use the model setting called "Semi".
Positions 1-3-5 are modeled after a 335...
1 = the bridge pickup
3 = the bridge and neck together
5 = the neck pickup
I think BB uses mostly either the bridge or neck... although his particular guitar has a unique tone knob... but these settings will get you really close.
Positions 2 and 4 on the Semi setting are modeled after a early 60's Epiphone Casino which is based on the Gibson 330. A slightly smaller bodied version of the 335.
2 = the bridge pickup of the Casino
4 = the neck pickup of the Casino
Actually, any of those will get you close.
As to the amp models, I think BB was predominantly using a Laney for a long time, but back in the early days it was a Fender Blackface.
Try setting it where with the volume on 10 and playing hard you get the max amount of breakup or overdrive that you want, then back off the playing and take the volume down to 8 or 9.
That should get you close.
Let us know how it works out.

BB also used Gibson Lab series amp (solid state) for a long time. I remember that because the lead guitar player from one of the bands I was in as a youth used one for years.
