Hello Everyone!Larry, thanks for sending me the email for this forum... you are the best! I think it is a great idea! God has been blessing here in the Sacramento area.
Just a note to let everybody know that the GOSPEL GUITAR JAM DVD's are finished. They just sent me a copy from Indiana last week. It turned out very nice. If you guys have not got a copy, contact Family Praise Center in Noblesville, Indiana. I can't wait for another opportunity to put together another great event of this kind.
Happy New Year to All,
Gary Harding

Hey, thanks for the update. I have been waiting on a call from them to let me know the DVDs were ready. I can't wait to see it and use as an outreach tool.
Maybe you can add the website link here for members to go to and purchase it.

First, let me thank Larry Carter for emailing me about this new forum.
Secondly, Bro. Harding, I hope you remember me. The last time you came to my church in Redding, you called me and Chris, our bass player, up to play a little blues.
I'd like to thank you for that. It definitely changed the landscape for my instrument there.
Oh, and Bro. Larry. It WAS good jamming with you at men's conference. I have proof:

Hey guys, it is great to hear from you... I loved the Men's Conference video. Ron, you are the best!
I can only tell you that we still have our website www.gospelguitarjam.com but it has not been updated since the benefit concert back in June '07. We were waiting for the DVD before we changed the site. It is linked to www.familypraisecenter.com which is the site for the Noblesville, IN church. For now, you can check with them for more info on the DVD's as they just finished it before Christmas. The concert was long and the DVD is edited down to about 90 minutes. It features Steve Newby (Indiana), Andy Fergusen (Virginia), Greg McCool (Illinois), and of course Larry Carter.
In case you all have not heard... Pastor Norm Chaudion (who we did the concert for and who is a great guitarist) was very ill with a severe case of Crohn's disease. The doctors had declared his case incurable and told him he was destined for colon cancer. Even at the time of the concert, he was very weak and shaking. The BIG news came in August when Sis. Chaudion called my wife from the doctor's office weeping. The doctor could not believe the test results. Pastor Chaudion's colon was completely healed and the doctor said it was a "divine intervention" from God. I talked with Bro. Chaudion that night on the phone and he was beside himself! He told me instantly his hands stopped shaking and he could play his guitar as though he had never been sick! God has done a miracle! Our prayer was answered! I am so happy to share this story everywhere I go. I look forward to putting together more Gospel Guitar Jam Benefit Concerts for others Ministers in need...
God bless you all,
Gary Harding

Well make sure I know about the next Jam--and as an added bit, I also play a mean blues harp (you know how those ALWAYS fit)
I will admit though, that I'd hesitate to start an Apostolic Blues Harp forum, because I'm almost positive that both members would fatigue quickly.

intro - and gearI don't know. Every time Larry comes to town, I feel like a beginner.
When we were getting ready for the New Years Celebration Concert our worship leader was giving that announcement that Larry was supposed to be there by saying, "If you want to hear some real guitar playing, be here on New Years Eve. Larry Carter is going to be... etc." So, I guess, I am not a real guitar player - at least not compared to Larry. Lest you worry, he didn't mean it like it sounded... but we joked about it for a few days nonetheless.
I got into studying about Fenders so that I could spot the fakes on eBay - that was back when you could still score some good deals. Mostly that's disappeared now. Every once in a while...
I posted about my main three guitars in the gear section. Is there any way to post pics here? I didn't tell you yet, Larry, but I ended up switching out to a PODxt for church. We are trying to keep our stage volume at a moderate level.
Any other Fender players here? My main thing is Strats. I am not sure you can have too many of them. They each one have a unique voice.
I have four higher end strats - a custom shop Strat - those of you familiar with Fenders it is a Custom Shop Time Machine '60 in NOS (New Old Stock) finish. Like you had traveled back in time to a shop in 1960 and pulled a Strat of the wall of your local shop. Great guitar, and my favorite to play. It is a sunburst finish, rosewood fretboard.
Next is my Fender American Vintage 62RI - modeled after, you guessed, a 1962 Strat. It's not Custom Shop, but the quality of it is spectacular. Candy Apple Red, with a rosewood fretboard.
I have a John Mayer Signature Strat - a great blend of modern features and vintage appeal, and the pickups in the Mayer are very unique, handle overdrive incredibly well. Where the CS 60 is a bright three-tone sunburst, the Mayer has a somewhat dark three-tone sunburst. The fretboard is either rosewood or Pao Ferro.
And last but not least, my American Vintage 57 Strat. Like the 62, but a maple board 57. Two-tone finish, but a maple fretboard.
I like putting together strats out of parts as well. I have a SRV clone that I did, and a 59-type strat (three-tone sunburst, maple fretboard) that plays incredibly well. And three or four other strats, a tele, and a Les Paul type guitar.
Anyway, said all that to say this.. it's great to be here... and thanks for starting it up, and to wink for the invite.

Hey Brothers, I would love to see some pictures. There is a button when you go to post a message that say "Img" on it. That stands for Img. I haven't tried it to see what the default settings are but give it a shot. Try to keep the image sizes to a medium so that it doesn't take long to load when viewing the threads. If it doesn't work, shoot me a message and let me know. I will make it work.

Ron, it is so great to hear from you! It has been a long, long time... (I was just a kid) since you blew me away with your finger-style thumb picking in Indiana. My family moved to CA when I was 16. That was 1967. I still remember the old blonde Harmony guitar and later when you bought a Gretch Country Gentleman.
Don't try to fool anyone... I'm sure you could still show me how it's done!
Wow, someday we are all going to have a great reunion.
